Logistics Planner – Coalville, Leicestershire

Role Overview
We are looking for a Logistics Planner with a sharp commercial mindset and a proactive approach to logistics planning. The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning routes across the UK and through the pallet network, with a strong focus on identifying and securing backhaul loads to maximize trip profitability.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and optimise daily transport routes across the UK and through the pallet network
Strategically identify and secure backhaul opportunities to increase revenue per trip
Use planning tools (preferably Qargo) to manage and adjust schedules in real-time
Communicate effectively with drivers, warehouse teams, and customers to ensure smooth operations
Monitor transport performance and adjust plans to meet service and cost targets
Ensure compliance with all transport legislation and company policies
Maintain accurate records and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives

Requirements
Proven experience in transport or logistics planning, ideally within a pallet network or UK-wide distribution
Strong commercial acumen with a focus on cost-efficiency and revenue generation
Ability to forward plan and adapt quickly to operational changes
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Proficient in transport planning tools; experience with Qargo is highly desirable
Solid understanding of UK road networks and transport regulations

Salary £45,000 to £50,000 plus car allowance
