Customer Services Clerk (Transport)
Job Description
Our client, a leading freight provider, is seeking a proactive Customer Services Coordinator to join their busy Felixstowe operation. This is a fast-paced, customer-focused role, acting as the key point of contact for clients and ensuring the smooth movement of containerised freight
Key Responsibilities
Act as the main point of contact for customers, handling all queries relating to import and export shipments
Provide timely updates on container movements, delays, and service disruptions
Coordinate closely with internal operations and terminal teams to ensure shipments move as planned
Monitor container flows to ensure all traffic meets agreed schedules and customer requirements
Ensure all required documentation is processed accurately and in line with service requirements
Track and manage any exceptions, including missed or delayed containers, and communicate effectively with customers
Support the efficient handling of both import and export movements, ensuring service levels are maintained
Liaise with terminals and internal departments to resolve operational issues promptly
Maintain accurate records using internal IT systems
Provide regular updates and reports on shipment status and operational performance
Skills & Experience
Previous experience within customer services, freight forwarding, shipping, or logistics
Strong communication skills with the ability to build relationships with customers and colleagues
Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced operational environment
Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
Confident using IT systems and managing multiple tasks simultaneously
A proactive, problem-solving approach
