Job Description

Our client is seeking an experienced Ocean Freight Import Operator responsible for managing ocean import shipments from the Far East to the UK, ensuring cargo moves efficiently from booking through to final delivery. The role involves coordinating with shipping lines, overseas agents, hauliers, warehouses, customs teams, and customers to provide a high level of service, maintain accurate shipment records, and resolve any operational issues. The successful candidate will build strong customer relationships, support business growth through competitive pricing and reliable transit solutions, and contribute to improving operational efficiency while ensuring compliance with industry regulations and company procedures.

Key areas of responsibility:
Manage FCL and LCL import shipments from start to finish.
Liaise with customers, shipping lines, agents, and transport providers.
Monitor vessel arrivals and proactively communicate shipment updates.
Ensure accurate shipment, costing, and tracking information is maintained.
Support customs clearance and delivery processes.
Resolve operational, invoicing, and service-related issues.
Build customer relationships and help grow import volumes.
Identify service improvements and maintain operational efficiency.
Benchmark pricing and transit solutions against competitors.
Ensure compliance with company and industry requirements.
Strong ocean freight import experience, excellent customer service and communication skills, commercial awareness, and the ability to manage multiple shipments while maintaining attention to detail and operational accuracy.
