OPERATIONS MANAGER – AIRFREIGHT
Ipswich, Suffolk – Hybrid Working

Our client is looking for an experienced Airfreight Operations Manager to lead their growing operations team. This is an excellent opportunity for a freight professional with strong airfreight expertise, leadership experience and a passion for process improvement, automation and operational excellence.
You will oversee a Philippines-based operations team, manage day-to-day airfreight activities and play a key role in developing SOPs, training staff and supporting the continued evolution of our systems and processes.
Key Requirements
Minimum 3 years’ airfreight import/export experience within freight forwarding.
Previous supervisory, team leader or management experience.
Must be based in Suffolk or within a commutable distance of Ipswich as will be required to work in the office 2-3 days each week
Experience managing or supporting overseas teams is advantageous.
Strong knowledge of quotations, bookings and end-to-end shipment management.
Experience creating, maintaining and delivering training on SOPs.
Enthusiastic about technology, automation and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
Lead and develop a Philippines-based operational support team.
Manage airfreight quotations, bookings and customer shipments.
Ensure exceptional customer service and operational performance.
Create, update and maintain customer SOPs and training materials.
Deliver training and support the rollout of new systems and processes.
Identify opportunities to improve efficiency through automation and smarter ways of working.
Provide operational support and cover during peak periods when required.
Desirable
Seafreight knowledge (FCL/LCL).
Customs awareness.
Experience with time-critical or AOG shipments.
