Job Description

Our client is looking for a motivated and organised Trainee Transport Operator to join their transport team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a career in transport and logistics. Full training will be provided, allowing you to develop the skills and knowledge needed to support the day-to-day planning and coordination of transport operations while ensuring excellent customer service and compliance with industry regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
• Assist with planning and scheduling vehicle routes
• Support the allocation of drivers and vehicles to daily workloads
• Communicate with drivers throughout the day regarding deliveries, collections, and any operational issues
• Monitor vehicle locations and delivery progress using transport management systems
• Update transport records and maintain accurate operational documentation
• Liaise with customers regarding delivery times, delays, and service updates
• Support the transport team in resolving operational issues efficiently
• Ensure transport activities comply with company procedures and relevant transport legislation
• Assist with vehicle maintenance scheduling and defect reporting
• Process delivery paperwork, proof of delivery, and transport documentation
• Provide administrative support to the transport department as required

Skills and Experience

Essential:
• Good communication skills, both verbal and written
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
• Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Office
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn
• Good problem-solving ability
• Reliable and punctual

Desirable:
• Previous administration or customer service experience
• An interest in transport, logistics, or supply chain operations
• Familiarity with transport management software (training provided if not)

Working Hours:
• Full-time
• Flexibility may be required to support operational requirements, including occasional early mornings, evenings, or weekends
