An established Felixstowe based haulage company is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Trainee Transport Operator to join its busy transport team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to start a career in the logistics and transport industry, with full training provided.
The successful candidate will gain hands-on experience in transport planning, vehicle scheduling, driver management, customer service, and compliance within a fast-paced container haulage environment.
Key Responsibilities
Assist Transport Planners with the day-to-day scheduling of vehicles and drivers
Learn how to plan container collections and deliveries efficiently across the UK
Monitor vehicle movements and respond to delays or operational issues
Communicate with drivers regarding delivery instructions, route changes, and customer requirements
Liaise with ports, shipping lines, depots, customers, and subcontractors
Update and maintain transport management systems accurately
Ensure driver paperwork and PODs are processed correctly
Support compliance with vehicle, driver hours, and transport regulations
Assist in tracking bookings, customs clearance statuses, and port releases
Provide excellent customer service and respond to customer enquiries
Produce transport-related reports and administrative documentation
Work closely with the wider operations team to ensure service levels are met
