Job Description

Our well known Felixstowe Transport company is looking for a Transport Operator to join their team.

Key Responsibilities:
• Plan and schedule daily container movements
• Allocate work to drivers and manage vehicle utilisation
• Monitor transport operations and respond to delays or operational issues
• Liaise with ports, customers, drivers and internal departments to ensure efficient service delivery
• Communicate delivery updates and resolve customer queries
• Ensure compliance with driver hours, Working Time Directive, and Operator Licence requirements
• Monitor vehicle availability and coordinate servicing, maintenance and defect reporting
• Complete transport administration and maintain accurate records using the transport management system
• Support the Transport Manager in delivering a safe, compliant and efficient operation

Skills and Experience:
• Previous experience working in a transport office
• Good understanding of UK transport legislation and driver hours regulations
• Experience planning HGV movements
• Strong organisational and communication skills
• Ability to work under pressure and prioritise workloads
• Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and transport management systems
• Experience in container haulage and port operations
• Knowledge of booking systems
• Familiarity with container transport documentation

Salary:
c£40,000 plus car
