Job Description

Our client, a well-established transport and logistics company based in Felixstowe, is seeking a Transport Operator with 1–2 years’ experience within container transport. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a busy and fast-paced transport office, supporting daily operations and ensuring the efficient movement of containers.

Key Responsibilities
Planning and coordinating daily container transport operations
Allocating work to drivers and managing route scheduling
Monitoring vehicle movements and ensuring timely deliveries and collections
Liaising with drivers, customers, and ports to resolve operational issues
Handling VBS bookings and container movements
Managing transport documentation including PODs, delivery notes, and manifests
Responding to real-time changes and maintaining service levels
Ensuring compliance with transport regulations and company procedures

Requirements
1–2 years’ experience in a container transport / haulage environment
Knowledge of port operations and container movements (Felixstowe preferred)
Experience with transport systems (e.g. TOPs, Truckcom or similar)
Strong organisational and communication skills
Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Proactive and solutions-focused approach

Desirable
Experience with VBS bookings
Familiarity with UK transport legislation and compliance
Local geographical knowledge
