Job Description

Our client is looking for an experienced Customer Services Specialist to join their operations team. This is not a traditional customer service position – it is a key operational role responsible for managing the end-to-end customer order process while ensuring compliance with international trade and customs regulations.
Working within a fast-paced international business, you will oversee the complete customer order lifecycle, from quotation and order confirmation through to shipment, customs clearance and final delivery. You’ll work closely with Sales, Supply Chain, Logistics, Customs Brokers and external partners to ensure orders are delivered efficiently on time and in full.
The successful candidate will bring strong experience in supply chain operations, customs compliance and ERP systems, with the ability to coordinate multiple activities while maintaining exceptional service for both customers and internal stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:
• Manage domestic and international customer orders from enquiry through to delivery
• Coordinate shipments with freight forwarders, logistics providers and customs brokers
• Prepare and manage all import and export documentation, ensuring compliance with UK and international trade regulations
• Oversee customs processes, including Freeport documentation and transactions
• Monitor order progress and proactively communicate updates to customers and internal teams
• Maintain accurate records and transactions within SAP
• Ensure all shipping documentation is complete, accurate and compliant
• Monitor freight costs and identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency
• Support inventory and supply chain activities to ensure customer demand is met
• Work collaboratively across Sales, Operations, Finance and Logistics to resolve issues and deliver excellent customer service
• Produce operational reports and maintain accurate data within business systems

Essential Skills & Experience:
• Previous experience in customer order management within a manufacturing, distribution or international trading environment
• Strong knowledge of import and export procedures and customs compliance
• Experience managing shipping documentation and customs processes
• Experience working with SAP or a similar ERP system
• Understanding of Freeport operations and documentation
• Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
