Job Description

Our client is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Trainee Transport Clerk to join our busy transport operations team in Felixstowe. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to start a career within the transport and logistics industry. Full training will be provided, and you will gain hands-on experience supporting the efficient planning and administration of vehicle movements across the UK.
Main Responsibilities
Assisting the transport team with daily planning and scheduling of deliveries and collections.
Updating transport management systems with vehicle, driver, and job information.
Monitoring driver progress and communicating any delays or issues to customers and colleagues.
Processing transport documentation, including PODs (Proof of Delivery), manifests, and delivery notes.
Liaising with drivers, customers, ports, warehouses, and third-party providers.
Supporting compliance procedures, ensuring transport records are accurate and up to date.
Handling telephone and email enquiries professionally and efficiently.
Assisting with data entry, reporting, and general administrative duties.
Learning transport regulations, driver hours legislation, and industry best practices.

Requirements

Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
Good communication and customer service skills.
Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks.
Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths preferred.
Previous administrative experience would be beneficial but is not essential.
Interest in transport, logistics, or supply chain operations is advantageous.

£24,000 – £27,000 per annum (depending on experience).
